Macrophages represent a founding cell type within most organ anlagen, and as such most likely support organ development and functions.
We are particularly interested in characterising the homeostatic functions of microglia during brain organogenesis, and their impact for pathophysiology, e.g. during neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases using human, mice, and guinea pigs as model organisms.
