Research Interest

We study intracellular signaling: the cyclicGMP and G protein signaling. We study signaling mainly in the context of metabolism and neurodegeneration. An important aspect of our research is the development of new therapeutic approaches (Drug targeting – Nanomedicine) and small RNAs (siRNAs and miRNAs).

Techniques

  • We have established a Viral Vector Platform for the generation of state-of-the-art vieral vectors. The focus lies on lentiviral vectors and lentiviral transgenesis (a novel method for the production of transgenic animals using lentiviral gene transfer).
  • Another focus is RNA interference: the development of siRNA-based therapeutic approaches, and to study the role of microRNAs in neurodegeneration and stem cell differentiation.
